A blog about living life despite battling Cystic Fibrosis.

Road to Roo: Day 8

This was by far my favorite day of Bonnaroo. We started out by sleeping for a few hours before we had to go back to volunteering at 2pm (We didn’t get back to our campsite until 9am from the volunteering the night before; see Road to Roo: Day 7). So that shift was super busy because people LOVE to lose stuff! At least the time went by really fast because I was being super impatient for the night to come… It was MUMFORD & SONS night!

So when we got done with volunteering at 8pm, I made us RUSH over to the main stage where Mumford was playing. We were supposed to see them two years ago at the first Bonnaroo we went to, but they had to pull out at the last minute because of health issues with one of the members. It was my dream to see them live because they are my absolute favorite band. They came to Milwaukee later that summer, but it just wasn’t the same because the venue wasn’t even close to as good as the ones at Bonnaroo. I was happy to be able to say that I saw them live, but there was still that nagging disappointment that we didn’t get to see them at Bonnaroo. So when I heard that they were coming back to Bonnaroo this year, I didn’t even hesitate on making the decision that we were going!

So… we somehow made our way to the front (perks of being very small and determined) despite getting there 5 hours after everyone else that was around us. The concert began and let me tell you…. It was everything I imagined and more. Not only was being front row BEYOND AMAZING, but the show was so FANTASTIC. The best shows are the ones where you can tell that the artistsreally love music and are so into it that you have no choice but to be into it too. It’s like the whole world disappears and all that is there is the music and the energy and the joy. It was also awesome because Ed Helms showed up to play banjo with them (although they didn’t play “Hopeless Wanderer”, which would have been awesome)! Then to finish off the show they had a bunch of other artists come and join them up on stage, which basically filled the whole stage, and they all played “With A Little Help From My Friends”. It was all so perfect. Soooo.. in case you haven’t gathered, I pretty much died of joy and can cross that off of my bucket list. 🙂 My only disappointment with the show was that it wasn’t long enough! I easily could have stood there and rocked out for 3 hours with no problem at all!

BEST. DAY. EVER.
