Road to Roo: Day 9

Sigh… The last and final day of Bonnaroo 2015. It was such a fun and exciting year, and luckily not as hot as the last time we went. However, by the last day we were sick and tired of the sun because even though it was supposedly supposed to storm all weekend, it was sunny with NO clouds… Go figure! I had to make extra sure to pack lots of salty snacks and drink loads of water. It’s so crazy how much water your body goes through in that heat! Some salty snacks that I find easy to bring on road trips are peanuts, chips, salted granola bars, and beef jerky (the sodium in that stuff is crazy awesome). I hear another great thing to bring is Gatorade or some other type of sports drink. However, I find those drinks disgusting, so I just have to combine salty foods and water.

So we woke up at 7am and did our daily ritual of sitting around being baked by the sun until it was time for us to volunteer at 2pm. We played cards, read, and chit-chatted. It was a really relaxing hangout time, except that we so gosh darn hot. So after that we went to our volunteer shift, which went by really fast because it was so busy. It was the last day, so everyone was trying to get their stuff back before they headed out of town.

I’ve had many people ask me, “What’s the most interesting/weird thing you’ve seen in the lost & found?” Well, this year it wasn’t a something really, more than an experience I suppose. It was during our overnight shift that this experience happened. Near the beginning of our shift, around 8pm, we hear this lady completely bitching out the health people who shared a tent with us about how her son was lost and they were no help and blah, blah, blah. Later that night, probably around midnight or something, this guy came up the our tent completely messed up and tripping hard. He was asking what he took, where he was, and who he was. Then he left. Well then later that night, maybe around 2am, the crazy lady came to the lost & found to fill out a missing person form in our system. Then, close to dawn, the messed up boy and the crazy lady came up to the lost & found together to try and find the guy’s wallet and other things he had lost. IT ALL FIT TOGETHER. This messed up guy was the crazy ladies son! They then got nicknamed “Bad Trip Family”. Haha. It was good to has some entertainment throughout the night and a good story to tell.

Once our last volunteer shift was over, we got to enjoy the last night of music. We ran over to rock out to Ed Helms & the Bluegrass Situation because they are so fantastic and fun. Then we ended Bonnaroo by heading over to see Billy Joel. And yes, we rocked out pretty hard to “Piano Man”. Then we headed back to our campsite and started packing up everything except our tent, so we could get going right away in the morning and not having pack up in the horrible heat.

All in all, it was a fantastic and extremely successful Bonnaroo. 😀
